Maria and Me

I use colored pencil with gouache highlights to draw mythopoetic narratives. Here, Maria (my wife) and I are flying over an apocalyptic landscape towards a far-off destination that Maria points to. Despite the apocalyptic surrounding, the picture is imbued with love and hope where one can even find time to stop and notice the flowers. This picture means a lot to me as it foreshadowed apocalyptic events in my own personal life in which I’ve tried to find beauty.
